Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems is an evidence-based psycho-therapeutic approach that was discovered and developed by Richard Schwartz. It is founded on the concept that the self is comprised of parts that work to protect a core sense of Self. Different parts contain valuable qualities but may be operating in ways that are detrimental to our relationships with ourselves and others. Internal Family Systems provides a therapeutic framework and process that allows us to discover what these parts of us are working to protect us from and update them so they can serve us in more balanced and helpful ways.

"As a clinical treatment, IFS has been rated effective for improving general functioning and well-being. In addition, it has been rated promising for each of: improving phobia, panic, and generalized anxiety disorders and symptoms; physical health conditions and symptoms; personal resilience/self-concept; and depression and depressive symptoms." https://www.foundationifs.org/news-articles/79-ifs-an-evidence-based-practice
